Police search for suspect
State and local police in two counties are searching for a man they say rammed a police cruiser before leading officers on a high-speed chase in southern Mercer County last week.
Kevin L. McFadden, 43, of Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, is wanted on warrants for five criminal cases in Mercer and Lawrence counties.
Police in New Wilmington, Mercer County, and Pulaski, Lawrence County, said a tip led them Feb. 21 to the parking lot of Callahan Supply in Wilmington Township, where they found McFadden, according to a state police report.
But when the officers tried to arrest him on some of the previously issued warrants, the suspect about 10:30 p.m. deliberately drove his car into a marked police car, court documents said.
He then drove off with police in pursuit. During the chase on Route 158, speeds reached more than 100 mph.
But several miles later, police called off the chase after McFadden ran red lights at high speeds. Police said they ended the pursuit out of safety concerns for other motorists.
Police said McFadden was driving a dark-colored, older model Mitsubishi Mirage that may have damage on its rear driver’s side bumper.
Anyone with information about the incident or about the suspect is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.
Police on Feb. 22 obtained an arrest warrant for McFadden on charges of aggravated assault and flight to avoid apprehension, both felonies.
Other charges include fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
Meanwhile, Pulaski Township police in Lawrence County have a warrant for McFadden’s arrest on felony stalking charges.
Police filed those charges after he allegedly harassed a woman in the township Feb. 10.
Pulaski police have another arrest warrant for McFadden in a theft case Jan. 20.
Additionally, state police hold other arrest warrants stemming from a pair of separate theft-related cases April 11 in Pine Township, Mercer County, and Sept. 22, 2009, in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
