Cooper Cabin Pioneer Homestead, 199 Cooper Road in Cabot, will host a Cider and Sauerkraut Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 21. Docent-led tours of the cabin will also be available from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for ages 5 to 17 and senior citizens, and free for children younger than 5 and Butler County Historical Society members. Old Stone House will be the site of tours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through October. Halloween and perhaps Christmas events will be planned. Admission is free but donations are accepted for operation of the historical site. The house at the intersection of Routes 8, 173 and 528, 12 miles north of Butler, is owned and operated by Slippery Rock University. Butler County Heritage Center, the Little Red School House, and the Lowrie/Shaw House — all owned and operated by the Butler County Historical Society — will be open for tours during the Butler Fall Festival on Saturday. The Heritage Center's newest exhibit, "100 Years of Steel in Butler County," will be unveiled. The museum at 119 W. New Castle St. will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tour admission fees are $5 for adults, $2 for ages 5 to 17, and free those younger than 5. The Little Red School House, next to the Butler Junior High School building on McKean Street, will be open for tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $1 per person. Children younger than 5 are admitted free. The 1800s-era Lowrie/Shaw House is filled with artifacts from the Sullivan/Shaw family, the last occupants of the house, and is interpreted to the 1870s time period. The museum at 123 W. Diamond St. will be open for docent-guided tours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for ages 5 to 17, and free for those younger than 5. Harmony

Museum on Saturday will be the beneficiary of a large auction of furnishings and objects donated by the family of the late Dorothy and Alan Baldinger, as well as numerous additional quality goods donated by others. The sale will be at the museum's historic 1805 barn annex on Mercer Road, just north of the Connoquenessing Creek, with doors opening for preview at 9 a.m. and the auction beginning at 10 a.m. Food will be available.

Passavant House and Buhl House, historic house museums of the Zelienople Historical Society, at 243 and 221 S. Main St. in Zelienople, are open for regularly scheduled tours beginning at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays through September. <B>Carnegie Science Center</B>, One Allegheny Ave. next to Heinz Field on the North Side, will host Wild Water Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, with special programming on ecosystems beneath the water's surface, and how we interact with these environments both positively and negatively.
