Trash pile up may lead to citations

CONNOQUENESSING TWP - Supervisor Ray Kroll assured residents of the Woodlands Resort area Wednesday night that the township would begin actively citing property owners who have an inordinate amount of junk on their property.

Residents were particularly concerned with garbage, including abandoned cars and trailers, which has accumulated on Hawk and Spring Valley Roads. Some speakers said the junk smelled and rats are infesting the properties. They also cited safety concerns.

Although some homeowners wanted the township to swiftly force their neighbors to clean up, township solicitor Michael Gallagher cautioned that all citizens have the right to due process, which must be respected. He also advised the removal process could take a long time.
