Kohl's denies plans to open Crossing site
BUTLER TWP — Despite signs to the contrary, Kohl's is not coming to the Butler Crossing Shopping Center at New Castle and Hindman roads.
Ryan Ratajewski, a Kohl's spokesman, said Tuesday, "At this time, we've not announced any plans to open a new store in your community (Butler Township).
"Kohl's has an ongoing real estate assessment process. At any given time, Kohl's is reviewing sites in communities nationwide," Ratajewski said. "We do not comment on real estate speculation. When firm details are available, we are happy to share them at that time."
Cedarwood Development recently had its grand opening for the shopping center with a plaza in front that includes Radio Shack, Dunkin' Donuts, Verizon, Original Mattress Factory, Sally's Beauty Supply and Great Clips, as well as a soon to be announced national pizza chain.
The larger plaza in the back will house Ross, Petco, Dollar Tree, Michael's Crafts, Shoe Carnival and Fashion Bug.
The International House of Pancakes in March announced it put on hold plans to build at Butler Crossing because of the recession.
Cedarwood built the Butler Commons Shopping Center in 2002 on the site of the former Butler Mall.
Butler Crossing is adjacent to Butler Commons, with shoppers able to access both parking lots near the Walmart without having to re-enter New Castle Road traffic.
The small plaza stores and outparcels all will be open by the end of this year with stores in the larger plaza scheduled to open in 2010.
