I would like to express appreciation to James Matson for his kind comments in his Aug. 4 letter to the editor regarding the Mariners' World War II Memorial in Diamond Park.

I would hope that others would take the time to visit the memorial and read the inscriptions.

The Clarion Monument Co. of Clarion deserves the credit for the design of this beautiful memorial.

As a member of the Mariners' World War II Memorial Committee, I can say the Mariners are very proud of their memorial.
