Ruth A. Stockert
Ruth A. Stockert, 77, of Middlesex Township passed away Thursday afternoon in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Sharpsburg on Aug. 6, 1936, she was the youngest daughter of the late Roy A. and Marie G. Cyphers Burkhart.
A 1958 graduate of Duquesne's School of Nursing, Ruth was an R.N. and spent countless hours caring for others as a visiting nurse and later as a home health aide at St. Barnabas.
She married her now late husband and love of her life, Edward J. Stockert, on Sept. 20, 1958, and became a homemaker raising their six children.
A devout Catholic, Ruth was a member of the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church in Glade Mills, where she participated in the Widow and Widowers Group. She volunteered her time with numerous church activities as an active parishioner, and she also belonged to the Card Club and Birthday Club.
Known as Ruthie to many of her friends, her companionship to many through the years will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving family, which includes her five daughters, Cindy (Buzz) Brack and Susan Novosel, both of Cranberry Township, Bonnie (John) Slagel of Dorseyville, Margie (Phil) Bartell of Saxonburg and Jennifer (Laszlo) Bartos of North Huntingdon; her son, Kenneth E. (Jodi) Stockert of Cabot; her 17 grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose (Jim) Spangler in California; her two brothers, Paul (Betsy) Burkhart and Larry (Dot) Burkhart, both in Pittsburgh; and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Regis; her infant daughter; and several half-brothers and sisters.

Stockert, who passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Holy Sepulcher Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Road, Butler, with Father Daniel Maurer as celebrant.
