County heritage center now has Saturday hours
The Butler County Heritage Center is now open on Saturdays.
The heritage center at 119 W. New Castle St. dropped its Sunday hours and now is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays on a 10-week trial basis, said Rebecca Crum-Reinsel, executive director of the Butler County Historical Society. The historical society runs the heritage center.
The shift to Saturday hours, which will end on Sept. 22, is made possible with through a financial grant from the Butler Eagle.
The center is continuing with its Wednesday hours, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those hours will end Aug. 29.
Crum-Reinsel said the historical society board will decide after Sept. 22 whether it will close the center for the winter.
The historical society also has extended public hours at the Lowrie-Shaw House behind the Butler County Courthouse to Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while continuing its Sunday hours of 1 to 3 p.m.
Crum-Reinsel said those hours at the Lowrie-Shaw House will end Aug. 29, and the board will then determine a winter schedule.
The historical society recently moved its offices to the Lowrie-Shaw House.
