Ruth Marshall Burk
Ruth Marshall Burk, 86, of Richland Township died Sunday at her home.
Born June 8, 1920, in Bakerstown, she was the daughter of F. Raymond and Roxy McKibbin Marshall.
A graduate of Etna High School, she attended Slippery Rock State Teachers College for two years and completed her education at Pittsburgh Business School.
She began work in Bakerstown running the office for her father's business, Bakerstown Garage. Upon her father's retirement and sale of the business, she worked for Harold Baselick, the town physician. After the death of Dr. Baselick in 1964, she was the bookkeeper for David Tesone Trucking until her retirement in 1990.
In her spare time, she enjoyed canning, gardening, helping with the sheep and cattle and showing horses on her family's farm. She also volunteered in the office of the Richland EMS throughout her retirement.
Surviving are two children, Rae "Gerry" Burk and Rody Burk, both of Richland Township, and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde H. "Joe" Burk, who died Feb. 28, 2006. A brother also preceded her in death.
<B>BURK </B>— Friends of Ruth Marshall Burk, who died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Richland Township. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Darcy Hawk officiating.
