Big Ben enjoys life on Mars
Big Ben made lots of kids happy campers.
For the second straight year, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger conducted a football camp at Mars High School.
This year, there were 450 kids from 11 different states at the camp. Coincidentally, Roethlisberger broke 450 tackles this season of angry defensive players trying to sack him.
You have to love the synergy.
The biggest kid in attendance was Roethlisberger.
Roethlisberger has had an interesting career in Pittsburgh. He led the Steelers to a 15-1 record as a rookie, won the Super Bowl the next year and then nearly died in a motorcycle accident.
He then slumped as the Steelers posted an 8-8 record, but won the Super Bowl again last year.
He said he wants to win three more championships. Why three more? To pass some dude named Terry Bradshaw. I guess he was a good quarterback for the Steelers or something.
I don’t know what kind of golfer Bradshaw is, but I’m sure Roethlisberger already has him beat.
Roethlisberger fired an 81 at Bethpage Black before the monsoon that ruined the U.S. Open turned the course into a makeshift Venice, complete with canals.
Roethlisberger didn’t hand out any golf tips at Mars, though.
Roethlisberger is only 27, and three more Super Bowl wins is not out of the realm of possibility. But given his style of play — he takes more beatings than Brian Minto opponents — and its hard to say what kind of a lifespan he will have in the NFL.
Right now, he’s harder to bring down than a grizzly bear hopped up on Opiates. But how long will that last?
For Steelers’ fans — and Roethlisberger — hopefully long enough for three more titles.
