[naviga:h3]COVID-19 testing set for Wexford[/naviga:h3]

WEXFORD — The Wexford Health Wellness Pavilion, 12311 Perry Highway, will have COVID-19 drive-up testing for the patients of both Allegheny HealthNetwork and non-AHN providers. A physician’s order is required. On-demand or walk-up testing is not available.

AHN began offering drive-up COVID-19 testing in March and now provides the service at seven Western Pennsylvania locations. With a continued need for testing, and an adequate availability of supplies, AHN officials decided to open the testing to a wider range of patients.

Hours of operation vary at the testing sites and can be found at https://www.ahn.org/coronavirus/faqs/testing.

To obtain a test order, the network is encouraging patients — especially those with COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath — to utilize AHN’s various online or phone hot line options, to minimize exposure to others.

Patients can call the AHN 24/7 Nurse phone line (412-Nurse4U) to discuss symptoms with a nurse, or schedule a video visit or an e-visit through MyChart to discuss their concerns with a clinician. After the COVID-19 test is ordered, patients will be contacted directly by AHN to set up a collection appointment.

[naviga:h3]Audubon Society shares in funds[/naviga:h3]

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania has been awarded a $1.17 million award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service Regional Conservation Partnership Program.

Audubon will collaborate with five partners to protect and improve water quality and habitat in Buffalo Creek, a high-quality watershed and Important Bird Area in Allegheny, Butler, and Armstrong counties.

Project partners include the American Chestnut Foundation, Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences at Duquesne University, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Butler County Conservation District, and Armstrong Conservation District.

Project funding will be split among the project partners. The final result will be 1,000 acres of improved land and cleaner water and over 120 acres of preserved farmland.

Project partners collectively leveraged funds from each organization’s conservation and outreach efforts to meet NRCS’s required matching requirements. The total value of work that will be completed over five years is about $2.34 million.

[naviga:h3]Sen. Casey urges Walmart to improve[/naviga:h3]

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., penned a letter with seven of his Senate colleagues to urge Walmart to grant priority access for seniors and people with disabilities following complaints from Americans across the country who were unable to access Walmart stores due to long wait times,

Concerns about Walmart’s failure to enforce social distancing guidelines that also provide accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities poses a significant threat to safety and an increased risk of community spread of COVID-19, Casey said.

The senators also called on the White House Coronavirus Task Force to provide essential businesses with the best practices to ensure that any social distancing policies are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

U.S. Sen Bob Casey, D-Pa., is proposing legislation that would provide financial rewards to health care workers.

Casey said his legislation, the Pandemic Responders Service Award Act, would establish a program in the spirit of the GI Bill for COVID-19 health workers. The program would include a range of options for health care workers, such as student loan forgiveness, financial aid to help workers to pursue additional education and a financial reward for health care workers who spent months in the trenches.
