Virginia G. Baird
Virginia G. Baird, 83, of Zelienople, formerly of Cranberry Township and Jupiter, Fla., died Thursday at Passavant Retirement & Health Center, Zelienople.
Born April 15, 1921, in Orlando, Fla., she was the daughter of James and Rose McCaffrey Gelm.
Mrs. Baird was named Woman of the Year in 1978 by the Cranberry Township Jaycees. She was a 20-year member of the Cranberry Township Parks and Recreation board and a member of the Cranberry Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Cranberry Township Friends of the Library. She also was a former judge of elections in Cranberry Township.
She was a former member of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, Cranberry Township and member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Jupiter, Fla.
Surviving are a son, Robert K. Baird and his wife, Pam, of Vail, Ariz.; three daughters, Gini Rinkus and her husband, Raymond, of Reading, Patti Flach and her husband, Charles, of Evans City and Peggy Roccia and her husband, Wayne, of Zelienople; a brother, J. James Gelm of Orlando; a sister, Mary Sanders of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Baird and his wife, Jean, of Penn Hills and James Baird of Houston, Texas.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Baird, who died Sept. 23, 1999; a sister, Josephine Ziegler; and two brothers, John and Bill Gelm.
BAIRD - There will be no visitation. A memorial service for Virginia G. Baird, who died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 11 at Seaman Memorial Chapel, Passavant Health Center, 401 S.
