Candidates running for political office in the May 19 primary can pick up petition forms beginning Friday at the Butler County Bureau of Elections in the government center behind the Butler County Courthouse.

Tuesday is the first day candidates may obtain signatures for their nominating petitions.

The last day to turn in petitions and file as a candidate is March 10.

The elections bureau is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

KARNS CITY— Two administrators in the Karns City School District are retiring.Harry O'Donnell, assistant superintendent, is retiring after 37 years with the district.His retirement is effective at the start of the next school year.The school board Monday accepted his resignation.The board also accepted the resignation of James Zambelli, a staffer at Chicora Elementary School, who will retire at the end of the school year.He has worked in the district for 10years.

CHERRY TWP — Parents are invited to an orientation meeting for new kindergarten students in the Moniteau School District.The meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. March 3 at Dassa McKinney Elementary School.Forms and information about registration will be distributed. Registration will be March 11 and 12.For information, call the school office at 724-637-2321.

OAKLAND TWP— Parents are invited to a kindergarten registration meeting for St. Wendelin School.The meeting will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the school library.Preschool registration will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 19 at the preschool building.For information, call 724-285-4986.
