Moniteau down to 2 for new superintendent

CHERRY TWP — The Moniteau School Board expects to hire a new superintendent by the end of September.

The pool has been narrowed down to two candidates, said school board President Doug Kimmey Monday night at a board meeting.

The Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV in Grove City has coordinated the search. The deadline for applications was June 24.

"We've been very pleased with the proceedings, and we're excited about the possibilities," Kimmey said.

The school board voted April 12 to accept the retirement of former Superintendent Trudy Peterman. Her last day was April 13.

The board on April 26 named business manager John D'Amore as acting superintendent retroactive to April 14. He will remain in that position until a replacement is hired.

The Midwestern Intermediate Unit serves the 27 school districts in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties, according to its website.
