SLIPPERY ROCK — Eight administrators in the Slippery Rock School District received salary increases of 3.5 percent at Monday's Slippery Rock School Board meeting.

Here are the raises for the top district administrators:

• Superintendent Kathy Nogay will make $114,361 this year, up from $110,494 this past year.

• Jean Allen, assistant superintendent, will make $98,254 this year, up from $94,931.

• Paul Cessar, business manager and secretary to the board, will make $89,586, up from $86,557.

HERSHEY — Two men from Butler County are new state troopers. Gov. Ed Rendell announced the graduation of 45 cadets from the State Police Academy on Saturday.Among the graduates are Chad Savannah of Butler and Bradley Wolak of Slippery Rock. In addition to graduation, Wolak received the Col. Paul J. Chylak Memorial Driver Proficiency Award.

GROVE CITY — Entry forms are being taken for the annual Scarecrows in the Park contest at Grove City Memorial Park.Categories include businesses, organizations, individuals and just for fun. The first three categories come with first place prizes of $150, second place prizes of $100 and third place prizes of $50.Each scarecrow must be placed securely along the park entrance off West Main Street in the grass on the left around the circle. The scarecrow's clothing must be secured and held up on a pole.A marker will be displayed to identify the name of the scarecrow and its sponsor.The deadline for entry forms and placement of the scarecrows is Oct. 1. Winners will be announced Oct. 10 at Fall Fest. For information, call Mary Kay Mattocks at 724-458-8660.
