DETROIT — The United Auto Workers union is threatening to go on strike against Fiat Chrysler after its membership rejected a tentative contract deal with the company.

In a statement, Fiat Chrysler said Tuesday it received a strike notice from the union, and it continues to work toward reaching an agreement.

A letter to Fiat Chrysler posted on the UAW website Tuesday says the union is ending its contract with FCA at 11:59 p.m. today. The union said on its website Tuesday night negotiations are continuing with FCA and updates would be posted later.

Union members overwhelmingly rejected a tentative agreement with the company last week, with members calling for an end to a two-tier pay structure, more specific guarantees of new vehicles for U.S. factories and a return of cost-of-living pay raises that the union gave up to help the company in bad times. Now that Fiat Chrysler is making healthy profits, members want a bigger slice.

PITTSBURGH — An audit conducted by a Western Pennsylvania county's controller has concluded a Pittsburgh International Airport retailer violated the airport's “street pricing” agreement.The audit by Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner said 12 items were sold by Airmall for a few cents to a few dollars more than they are sold for elsewhere.The report said that violates the lease between the airport authority and Airmall Pittsburgh that prohibits its stores from charging customers more than other retailers. Wagner says the county agreed to street pricing at the airport due to the “significant” contribution of taxpayer dollars.Airmall Pittsburgh says it has corrected the price discrepancies and a system of checks and balances is in place to ensure travelers are charged fair prices.
