Rochester Road work scheduled
CRANBERRY TWP — Work to widen Rochester Road and add a lane at the intersection with Route 19 will begin next month.
Traffic will be maintained when construction begins after April 2, however lanes will be narrowed. Any lane closures on Route 19 or Rochester will happen overnight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Work is expected to be completed by October.
Rochester Road is getting a second left-turn only lane at the intersection. The existing dual left-turn and straight lane will become a straight-only lane.
The new left-turn lane will allow traffic at Wisconsin Avenue and Rochester Road to run concurrently, instead of alternating, which will save time on each cycle.
The bridge over Coal Run on Rochester Road just before the intersection is being widened to fit the extra lane. Additionally a sidewalk is being added on the north side of Rochester Road.
The $1.3 million project is being funded through a grant from the federal Congestion Management and Air Quality fund and administered by the township.
