Work to resume Monday on Route 8 traffic signal upgrade
Penn Township has announced that work will resume on Monday, Feb. 17, on the upgrade to the traffic signal at the intersection of Route 8 and Airport Road. The contractor, M&B Services, is expected to be on site on Monday and return on Friday, Feb. 21.
This is part of a project to improve safety at the intersection, which will bring new left-turn lanes, pedestrian crossings and a license plate reader camera. As a result of the construction, lane restrictions will be in place on Route 8 around the intersection.
“We have been working on this project for more than two years and now it is nearing completion,” wrote township Supervisor Samuel Ward in a message to residents. “The end result will be a much safer intersection, but drivers have the ultimate responsibility to safely pass through this intersection.”
