Neupauer given goals for 2015

BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College President Nick Neupauer will be around for a few more years.

The BC3 board of trustees Wednesday renewed his contract, which was to expire June 30. His contract continues until changed by the board.

"This was our way of showing the confidence we have in Dr. Neupauer as president of BC3," board chairman Ray Steffler said in a statement. "We are pleased with the direction he has taken the college."

Under the terms of the agreement Neupauer's salary will increase from $142,154 to $159,000.

The college said this was the same percentage increase as the faculty along with a "one-time market compensation adjustment." Future salary increases will be based on an annual performance evaluation and faculty increases.

Neupauer was appointed as the eighth president Aug. 1, 2007, taking the office left by Cynthia Azari when she left for a job in California.

Along with the contract extension, the trustees also approved a set of initiatives for Neupauer to work toward achieving by 2015.

Those include plans for expansion at the Cranberry Township campus, creation of a quick response team to evaluate expansion opportunities, creation of a Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning that would be a hub for professional development, improving the full-time to part-time faculty ratio, and increasing online course offerings, among others.

Neupauer said he has worked on goals set for him by the board during the past two years. Those included campus safety and communication.
