Betty Smith Crabtree
Betty J. Smith Crabtree, 71, of Cabot died Friday at her home.
Born May 6, 1933, in West Winfield, she was the daughter of Frances Markovick Goepfert and the late Henry Goepfert.
She graduated from Winfield-Clinton High School in 1951. She retired in 1993 from the Butler County Mushroom Farm (Moonlight Mushroom Inc.) after 45 years. She also worked at Wofford's Personal Care Home for six years until her illness in 2004. She was a 45-year member of the Moonlight Credit Union and served as a volunteer committee person for 23 of those years.
She belonged to the Zion Methodist Church in Sarver.
Surviving are her mother of Sugar Creek Rest; a son, Gerald Smith of Cabot; a daughter, Patricia Rome of Butler; two brothers, Sonny Goepfert of Sarver and Marty Goepfert of Moses Lake, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Margaret "Mudge") Bowser of Worthington.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jason Smith, Amber Rome and Kristen Smith; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Emily Smith; and a special friend, Elzy Smith of Worthington.
<B>CRABTREE</B> - Friends of Betty J. Smith Crabtree, who died Friday, March 11, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev Howard Greenfield, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
