Outdoor Discovery Program will feature Playthings Etc. with toys to try out at 7 p.m. tonight at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park. Admission is free. Call 724-284-5383.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528 near the intersection of Routes 8 and 173, will host "Wildflowers of Summer" at 2 p.m. Aug. 17. Healthy Hikes are planned from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6, Sept. 3 and Oct. 1. Jennings is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, just over the Butler County line into Lawrence County, will host "Crossing the River" about covered bridges at 2 p.m. Saturday. "Heart Hike #3" will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, starting from the Hell's Hollow parking lot. The Old Mill has tours of the grist mill at 1 and 2 p.m. Fridays, 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays, and 2 and 4 p.m. Sundays. A new turbine has been installed in the mill, and corn grinding will be demonstrated from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Moraine State Park will be the site of "Discover Lake Arthur" at 9 a.m. Sunday and July 27. "Intro to Geocaching" begins at 2 p.m. Sunday. Call 724-368-8811. An "Evening Pontoon Cruise" is planned for 7 p.m. July 26.

<B>McKeever Environmental Learning Center</B>, Sandy Lake, will be the site of a night hike from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Friday. This interpretive, easy-paced hike is about one mile long throughout McKeever's wooded setting. Hikers should wear dark clothes and sturdy shoes and possibly bug spray. Meet in front of the dining hall. The program is free. Call 724-376-1000.
