Dorothy A. Bowser

Dorothy A. Bowser, 86, of Emlenton, formerly of West Freedom, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at Sugar Creek Station in Franklin after an illness.

Born Sept. 28, 1919, she was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Funkhouser Latshaw.

Mrs. Bowser was a United Methodist.

She was a well-known volunteer for many charitable functions. She will be remembered for her efforts on behalf of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 598 in Parker, where she served more than 30 years as an officer, mainly treasurer. She also was president several times and was a representative to the Department of the Pennsylvania American Legion Conventions.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy McNany of Emlenton; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mary Jordan of Ridgway and Faye Garris of Beaver Falls, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Her first husband, Clarence Martin; her second husband, Frank A. Bowser; and four sisters preceded her in death.

BOWSER — A memorial service for Dorothy A. Bowser, who died Thursday, March 2, 2006, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Private burial will be at the Emlenton Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Foxburg Free Library, Foxburg, PA 16036.
