Crops Day offers latest information about production
Looking for the latest information on crop production in Western Pennsylvania?
If so, there is still time to register for the Western PA Crops Day to be held Feb. 25 at the Atrium along Route 422 in Franklin Township.
Registration and viewing of commercial exhibits will begin at 9 a.m. The program will get under way at 9:45 a.m. and will adjourn at 3:30 p.m.
This year’s program will feature the following speakers and topics:
• Dwight Lingenfelter, Penn State weed management specialist, will present “What’s New 2014: Hot Topics in Weed Management” and “Herbicide Resistant Weeds: Past, Present, and Future”
• Alicia Spangler, Extension agronomy educator, will discuss “Forage Quality: What Is It?” and “Overlooked Step to Getting the Correct Rate of Pesticides”
• Doug Beegle, Penn State soil fertility specialist, will present “Reducing Nitrogen Losses With Additives” and “Sulfur and Micronutrients.”
Pending final approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, the meeting will qualify for 2 update credits for core and 2 update credits for Category 01 (Agronomy) for those with a pesticide applicator’s license. CCA continuing education credits also will be offered.
The cost of the meeting is $15 per person before Feb. 18 and $20 per person after. The registration fee includes refreshments and lunch. Seating is limited to 50 participants.
