Richard A. Tudor

Richard A. Tudor, 74, of Sigel, died at 2:20 a.m. June 12 at Dubois Regional Medical Center.

Born May 15, 1931, in New Kensington, he was the son of John and Eleanor Brutsky Tudor.

A 1949 graduate of Ken High School, he was a lineman on its outstanding teams of the late 1940s under Coach Don Fletcher. He received a bachelor’s degree in education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in education from Edinboro State College.

Mr. Tudor was an Air Force veteran with the Strategic Air Command, serving as a tail gunner in the Korean War. He was an educator and coach for Tarentum and Highlands schools. Mr. Tudor was passionate about history and taught the subject to students for more than 30 years.

He was a true sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also took pleasure in playing the guitar, harmonica and doing crossword puzzles. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot, and sponsored an Indian child through St. Joseph’s Indian Foundation.

He is survived by Gloria E. Tudor, his wife of more than 38 years; two sons, Richard J. Tudor (Yvonne) of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Todd A. Tudor of Saxonburg; and two daughters, Noreen T. Hansknecht (John) of Williamsburg, Va. and Susan E. Lea (Greg) of Hermitage. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Allyssa, Chad, Abbey and Meredith; five step-grandchildren, Brent, Sarah, Austin, Dylan and Ryan; his brother Raymond Tudor (Linda) of Lakewood, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

TUDOR - A private memorial service was held for Richard A. Tudor, who died Sunday, June 12, 2005, June 17 at Saxonburg Memorial Church.
