Former Portersville resident tours with Sesame Street Live
PITTSBURGH — Former Portersville resident Christina Young will be around town again but this time with the Sesame Street Live touring show "When Elmo Grows Up" in which she plays the character Ernie.
She also appears as the letter "L" because in the show Elmo wants to be a weatherman so the letters "L" and "H" are featured to represent low pressure and high pressure.
Coincidentally, her twin sister, Angelina Young, is the performance director for the "Elmo! Ready for Action" show touring overseas, currently in Barcelona, Spain.
Christina holds a bachelor of arts degree in dance and psychology from Muhlenberg College in Allentown. She has performed with the Shelly Oliver Tap Dancers, What's On Tap, "Annie Get Your Gun" and "A Chorus Line."
Sesame Street Live has been touring for 29 years. Four distinct shows are touring for the 2008-09 season; in addition to "When Elmo Grows Up" and "Elmo! Ready for Action," also circling the globe are "Elmo's Green Thumb" and "Elmo Makes Music."
Sesame Street Live's "When Elmo Grows Up" will run Jan. 8 to 11 at Mellon Arena.Shows will start at 7 p.m. Jan. 8, 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 9, and 10:30 a.m. and 2 and 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10 and 11.Tickets range from $13 to $23, with a limited number of $30 gold circle seats available.
