Butler Power Equipment sells, services and supplies parts for residential and commercial outdoor power equipment.

Jay Gyger, 35, has been the owner since 2002. He and Jeb Malarkey, 29 are the only two employees.

Among their more popular brands are Husqvarna, Snapper and Toro Wheel Horse, according to Jay. They also Sell Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Tecumseh and Kawasaki. They sell such equipment as chain saws, trimmers, snowblowers, riding mowers, garden tractors, roto tillers, generators and pressure washers.

Both men are factory-trained service technicians with specialized training from each of the manufacturers whose equipment and parts they sell. They also service other brands as well.

"That's a big thing that sets us apart from the bigger stores," Gyger said. "They don't do service. We do it all."

They also pick up and deliver equipment to customers from their business at 1116 Oneida Valley Road, Chicora.

Especially on larger equipment, Gyger said, "People aren't always able to get things in here for service or have a way to get something to their house, but we take care of that."

He added, "We have an outdoor testing area too. Really it's more like a demonstration area. Customers can tryout and operate the equipment before they purchase it. And that's a big help to them."

Butler Power Equipment is an authorized warranty center for many brands.

"We offer parts, service and warranties, even if the equipment was purchased from somewhere else." Gyger said.
