With the aid of the Butler High School cheerleaders, Santa Claus makes an appearance at halftime during the Butler-Fifth Avenue basketball game on Dec. 19, 1967. Those gymnastic elves are, from left, Kathy McMaster, Debbie McCall, Marcy Fry, Toni Briggs (pushing the sleigh), and Alice Feder. Unfortunately, Old St. Nick's gift list did not include a Golden Tornado victory — they lost to the Archers, 46-37. Fifth Avenue was a Pittsburgh Public School that closed in 1976. The Archers won the state title that year.
