The fifth candle in the Advent wreath at St. Paul's United Church of Christ on Walker Avenue is lit by acolyte Russell Davis, 10, on Dec. 23, 1968. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis of Cherokee Drive. The other four candles, lit on four preceding Sundays, are: red for sacrifice; blue for love; green for hope and purple for penitence. The Advent season signifies a time to prepare and anticipate the birth of Jesus Christ. The building on Walker Avenue is now the home of Christ Outreach Church.
