The snowfall was part of a massive winter storm that pounded the Midwest, stranded thousands of travelers and closed down schools. Chicago was particularly hard hit by the storm system, receiving 16.4 inches of snow in a 24-hour period. By contrast, Butler County has had a mild winter so far, receiving only a few inches of snow. Mild temperatures are in the forecast for this weekend, with a chance of rain Saturday and Sunday.
