Woman charged in stabbing
A Butler woman is accused of stabbing a man in the stomach at a city apartment building, authorities said.
Butler police arrested 46-year-old Billie Jo Henry in the alleged assault Friday afternoon that left the victim in need of treatment at a Pittsburgh trauma center.
District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Henry on felony charges of aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is being held in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bond for those charges as well as for a probation violation.Police said they were called to the apartment building on Standard Avenue about 3:35 p.m. after a 24-year-old man reported that Henry had stabbed him with a pocket knife. Both the victim and defendant are tenants in different apartments at the building. When officers got there, police said, they saw Henry coming out the front door of the building. She had fresh blood on her hands and sweatshirt, but did not appear to have any injuries. She “calmly” handed Sgt. Jeremy Walters a closed pocket knife, saying nothing, police said.Police detained the defendant, and asked her what happened.“Henry stated (the victim) was banging on (her) door” and “messing with (her) family,” according to Walter's affidavit filed with the criminal complaint. The officer asked her if she had stabbed the victim, and she told him, “Yes,” the affidavit said. The victim was in the building, coming out of his apartment when police found him. Police described his hands and shirt as being covered in fresh blood.Walters said the man had a bleeding stab wound on the left side of his abdomen just below the rib cage. The wound was deep, the officer noted. The victim recounted that Henry came to his apartment, police said, and told him “don't (expletive) with (her) family.” She then allegedly stabbed him in the stomach with a pocket knife. The victim later was taken by ambulance to an unknown hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. His condition was not available Sunday.
