Employees of the Eagle Printing Company were guests of the owners and publishers of the Butler Eagle at a celebration of the 100th anniversary at the Holiday Inn on March 9, 1970. Marie Daubenspeck, business manager for more than 57 years, cuts the cake shortly after retiring on March 1. From left are James G. Leezer, machinist and printer with the company since 1920; Thomas Colley, printer from 1917 until his retirement as composing room foreman in 1967; Gerald L. Wise, officer and director of the Eagle since 1920; and Vernon L. Wise Jr., president and co-publisher of the Eagle. On Friday, the Eagle will mark 137 years. Today, Vernon L. Wise Jr. is president and publisher.
