Over 1,000 teens crowded into the North Washington Street YMCA's Purple Underground dance to hear The Human Bienz perform in concert on June 19, 1970. The Human Bienz were based out of Youngstown and had sold over a million records. Some of their hits included "Nobody But Me" and "Turn on Your Love Lights." Before stopping in Butler, the group had toured the U.S. and Japan. Purple Underground dances were held on Friday nights with occasional shows on Mondays.
