Two new leaders will oversee the Salvation Army in Butler beginning Wednesday.

Capts. Phillip and Nicole Hostetler of the Salvation Army in Rochester will replace Maj. Pamela McKee, who has headed the organization on West Cunningham Street for the past year.

McKee is being transferred to The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College in Atlanta. There, she will be on the college's teaching and administrative staff, helping with a two-year college program that trains people for Salvation Army ministry and leadership.

She also will complete her master's in divinity through Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky in December. The degree will be an addition to her master's in leadership from Greenville College in Illinois.

"This past year in Butler has been a wonderful experience in learning about Salvation Army ministry and community involvement and will be so helpful in moving to a new teaching experience," McKee said.

Before coming to Butler, McKee served with The Salvation Army College in Monrovia, Liberia, as the training principal for four years, part of her more than 25 years of Salvation Army service.

"Iknow that Capts. Philip and Nicole Hostetler will find the Butler community a wonderful place to meet people and work together with agencies and churches to meet needs and encourage positive growth in individuals, families and the community," she said.

The new leaders were appointed by the organization's divisional cabinet, said Capt. Edwin Velve.

Velve, who assists McKee in her leadership tasks, also will transfer at the end of the month. He will go the organization's Columbus, Ohio, branch.

Typically, leaders head a particular branch, or core, for four to six years, he said. However, that can be shorter or longer depending on the organization's needs as a whole.
