Megan Gasparin, 20, of Forward Township earned one gold and two silver medals at the recent Keystone State Games in Wilkes-Barre.

Gasparin, a junior at Malone (Ohio) College, won a gold medal in the discus and silvers in the shot put and hammer throw in the open division.

Grove City College junior free safety Ross Trimmer earned NCAA Division III Co-National Player of the Week honors from Don Hansen's Football Gazette Monday for his performance in the Wolverines' 63-6 win over Bethany (W.Va.) Saturday.Trimmer had two interceptions, including one for a school-record 100-yard return for a touchdown. He also set a school standard for longest play and most interception return yards (133).

The Butler Bocce team captured the recent 16-team Brady's Bend Tournament at the Sons of Italy grounds.Members of the winning squad were captain Dominic Bonefeste, Bruno Zuccala, Clyde means and Paul Isabella.The double-elimination event, which was hosted by John Andreassi, attracted teams from surrounding counties.

Former Syracuse University quarterback Don McPherson and current executive director of the Sports Leadership Institute at Adelphia University will speak at Slippery Rock University at 7 p.m. Monday at Swope Music Hall.McPherson will launch a campus-wide initiative titled Man2Man that encourages men to be proactive in preventing violence against women.The event is free.

Carlie Roberts, a sophomore setter on the Grove City College volleyball tean, was named PAC Player of the Week.Roberts posted 23 kills and 12 blocks in wins over Penn State-Behrend and Thiel, the latter giving coach Susan Roberts her 500th career win.

John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred in Butler fired a second-day round of 70 to finish in a second-place tie at the Dick's Sporting Goods Invitational Tour Championship Tuesday at the Indiana Country Club.Aubrey shot a 70 Monday to finish with a score of 140 to tie with Sean Farren of Totteridge Golf Club. Both were one stroke behind champion Gordon Vietmeier of Mt. Lebanon Township Golf Club.Saxonburg's Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf and Country Club finished tied for 12th place with a 74-73-147.

Bruce E. Henry of Butler, 137-yard, No. 5 hole at Krendale North. He used a pitching wedge.
