Eric Crowley of Mars High won the WPIAL Class AA diving championship at Pine-Richland Friday.
Crowley took the title with a score of 435.25, easily defeating Pine-Richland's Jesse Marweg, who placed second with a score of 398.25.
In the Class AA girls competition, Caitie Coco of Knoch was fifth with a score of 308.85. Nikki Perella of Hampton won with a score of 396.95
The top six divers qualify for the PIAA championships at Bucknell University March 16 and 17.
The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission will conduct its annual pre-season trout stocking of designated streams and lakes throughout the state.The public is welcome to observe and to participate and should arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to the listed times. Matt Slamecka of Butler placed second in the boys 14-and-under division of the Beaver Valley Open USTA Tennis Tournament at Brady's Run Parkrecently.After a first-round bye, Slamecka defeated Nick Navarre 6-1, 6-1 and Bas Van Lent 6-0, 6-3 before losing to D.J. Goldblum 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match.
Despite 14 points and six rebounds from Josh Aikens, the Portersville Christian boys basketball team dropped a 63-41 decision to Cheswick Christian Academy in a SWCAC playoff game Thursday.Cheswick used a 23-point first quarter to build a 33-19 lead at the break.
