ATLANTA - The Atlanta Falcons have obtained tight end Tony Gonzalez from the Kansas City Chiefs for a draft pick next year.

The Falcons will send a second-round pick in 2010 to Kansas City in exchange for Gonzalez, the only tight end in NFL history selected to 10 Pro Bowls, the Chiefs announced Thursday.

Gonzalez caught 96 passes for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2008. He owns NFL career records for tight ends with 916 receptions, 10,940 yards receiving, 76 TDs receiving and 26 100-yard receiving games.

Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt called Gonzalez "one of the finest players in Chiefs history."

ORANGE, Calif. - Chester "Chet" Herbert, a member of the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame who helped develop an exhaust header that blew smoke away from a dragster's rear tires to improve traction, died Thursday. He was 81.Herbert died of pneumonia at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, according to Sara Fensterer, a spokeswoman for Herbert's son, Doug, who followed his father into professional drag racing.Among his engineering and design innovations were the first roller camshafts for race cars. He was among the first to try nitromethane fuel in a dragster after reading how the German army had used it to power torpedoes during World War II.Herbert helped develop the Zoomie-type exhaust header that blew smoke away from a dragster's rear tires to improve traction, helping dragsters surpass 200 mph.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NASCAR's season-ending party is heading to Las Vegas.The weeklong salute to Sprint Cup's stars is leaving New York after nearly three decades.NASCAR announced the move Thursday, citing an aggressive pitch from Las Vegas officials that stressed reasonable room blocks and additional fan activities on the city's famous strip.The week will include the return of the "Victory Lap," a procession of the top 10 Cup drivers in their race cars, and the Pit Stop Tour.The annual banquet had been held in New York since 1981.
