Butler High graduate and Carnegie Mellon University junior Molly Evans will swim the 200- and 500-yard freestyles and the 200 backstroke at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships March 17 to 20 in Minneapolis.

Seneca Valley graduate Ben Gutmann, a senior at Westminster College, will compete in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, as well as the 200 individual medley.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The men's and women's cross country teams at Slippery Rock University both earned all-academic honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.To be eligible, a squad must post a collective GPA of at least 3.0.The Rock's women had a GPA of 3.57, while the men managed a 3.05.

NEW YORK — The NCAA's senior vice president said no decision has been made on whether to expand the men's basketball tournament.Greg Shaheen reiterated Tuesday at CBS's NCAA tournament media day that the organization is doing its "due diligence." He says "nothing is a done deal or decided at this point in time."The NCAA has been researching the issue and talking to its members for several months. The organization can opt out of the final three years of its 11-year, $6 billion contract with CBS after this season.CBS Sports president Sean McManus said the network has a history of successfully renewing the rights to events it wants to keep.
