SLIPPERY ROCK — Three Slippery Rock youths, who are members of the Tae Kwon Do America Xtreme Team, each turned in at least one first-place performance at one of two recent tournaments.

At the Lion's Den Karate Tournament in Beaver, black belt Mitchel Grossman, 14, placed first in forms, second in sparring and fifth in weapons while Logan Holland, 17, a yellow belt, was first in sparring, first in forms and first in weapons.

At the Champion of the Sword Karate Tournament in Albion, Pa., Taylor Balint, an 8-year-old brown belt, was first in sparring, first in forms and second in weapons.
