DALLAS — The New York jeweler suing former Duke basketball player Lance Thomas isn't interested in speaking to the NCAA.
Mike Bowers, an attorney for the firm, said an NCAA official contacted him Monday to see whether someone from Rafaello & Co. would agree to be interviewed about the firm's lawsuit asserting that Thomas purchased nearly $100,000 in jewelry while playing for Duke's 2010 national championship team.
Bowers said the company, which caters to professional athletes and other celebrities, declined because of the pending litigation.
NEW YORK — While the NHL and its players now agree on what qualifies as hockey-related revenue, the sides still haven't figured out how to split up the money the sport generates.With three days remaining before NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says he'll follow through on a vow to lock out the players for the second time in eight years, league executives returned to the bargaining table with the union and traded new proposals.The owners weren't particularly pleased with the new offer they received — with Bettman saying it wasn't much different from earlier proposals — and they ended up countering with one the commissioner said was drafted on the fly.NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr, speaking for the second time before a meeting with several hundred players, wasn't overly impressed with what he was given, either.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Six-time Pro Bowl receiver Chad Johnson was formally charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery by theBroward State Attorney's Office.Johnson was arrested last month after his wife accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home. He was later freed on $2,500 bond. He faces up to a year in county jail.
