The Maridon Museum, 322 N. Main St., presents Oshoogatsu (a Japanese New Year's program for children) from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 23.

Children will learn about the holiday through story telling, songs and a card game, among other activities.

As is tradition, the children will help ring a bell 108 times to get rid of worldly concerns.

Children in kindergarten through fourth grade may participate.

The cost is $5 per child, and an adult must accompany all children.

OIL CITY — Friends of Oil Creek State Park are hosting three moonlight skis.The night skis will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 29, Feb. 27 and March 26 at the cross-country ski hut.Skiers must provide their own skis and should take a headlamp to wear and a snack to share.In the case of no snow, the group will hike instead.An additional guided nature ski is also planned for 10 a.m. Jan. 23 leaving from the ski hut.Admission to programs is free.
