Quick action wasn't needed
Before formal recognition of the June 19 annual convention in Harrisburg of the U.S. Chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Speaker of the House Dennis O'Brien of Philadelphia, who introduced the resolution June 18, called for a vote on June 18; and he didn't have any co-sponsors.
How many lawmakers read the two-page resolution? What was wrong with passing it over for consideration, as Rep. Gordon Denlinger of Lancaster said — that it be sent back to committee? It could have come up later.
Why the rush?
Rep. Babette Josephs of Philadelphia said such resolutions usually pass through the House easily and quickly.
In Harrisburg, things are slipped in at the last minute and no one understands who or what they are about.
