READING — Police say a 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl found a loaded gun buried in woods near her home.

Police in Exeter Township, near Reading, say the revolver was rusted and not operational but it still created a dangerous situation for the child.

The girl was outside playing with friends when she discovered the revolver late Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say she took the gun home and showed it to her father, who called police.

Police say the serial number was covered with rust. Investigators will try to clean the gun and restore the number to determine if the weapon was stolen or used in a crime.

SCRANTON — A Pennsylvania man is behind bars after police say he punched his wife and grabbed her by the throat during a fight over their tax refund check.Police in Scranton say Miriam Rivera told them her husband, Ricardo Chavez Cintron, attacked her Sunday afternoon after she told him she needed $800 of the refund to buy a car.Cintron told police he was supposed to keep $900 of the refund for himself, and his wife would not give him the money.He is charged with assault and harassment, and was being held at Lackawanna County Prison.

UPPER ST. CLAIR — A suburban Pittsburgh man whose 9-year-old son accidentally shot and killed his twin brother has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.Allegheny County police say 66-year-old Michael Lanese, of Upper St. Clair, allowed his sons Stephan and Christian, access to guns, ammunition and other weapons. Lanese also was charged Monday with endangering the welfare of children.Police say Stephen Lanese was playing with the gun unsupervised when he accidentally pulled the trigger, shooting Christian in the head on Oct. 18.
