Year of the Ox

The museum has several representations of the Chinese Zodiac and its 12 animals. Friday is the beginning of Chinese New Year, and the Year of the Ox runs from Feb. 12, 2021, to Jan. 31, 2022. In Chinese culture, the ox is known to be hardworking and methodical. People born in the Year of the Ox are thought to be strong, reliable, fair and conscientious.
The Maridon Museum in Butler has several representations of the Chinese zodiac and its 12 animals. Each new year represents an animal from the zodiac, 12 that all rotate in a cycle The museum's collections committee has put on an exhibit displaying the zodiac animals, including the Ox whose year starts Friday, Jan. 12, 2021.
