Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, hosts a star gazing party, 8 p.m. Friday. Join the park naturalist and members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh at the bike rental station on the North Shore for a hands-on event featuring telescopes. Take a blanket, chairs, bug protection and snacks. Learn to kayak takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, departing from McDanel's Launch. Participants must be at least age 12. An adult must accompany those participants under 18. The park will have a number of kayaks on hand to use during the program. Registration is required; cost is $10. Join staff and Penn State Master Gardeners from Lawrence County to explore the native plant garden in the courtyard by the historic gristmill and then go for a guided walk to see wildflowers blooming. “A Taste of History: Dutch Oven Cooking” will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
