A free outdoor discovery series, hosted by Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, takes place Thursday nights at Alameda Park. The programs begin at 7 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter. McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, has a Hell’s Hollow industrial history hike from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Meet at the Hell’s Hollow parking lot. Art in the Park is from 1 to 3 p.m. July 15 and 29 and Aug. 19. The historic gristmill is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October.
