A free outdoor discovery series, hosted by Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, takes place Thursday nights at Alameda Park. The programs begin at 7 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter. Moraine State Park will host an evening paddle from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, a silver paddle from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, and birds and brew paddle from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. July 21. Admission is free. Call 724-368-3612 to register.
Moraine Preservation Fund has summer cruises on its Nautical Nature pontoon boat from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28. There also are Wednesday pizza cruises that begin at 5 p.m. Fees are involved. Call 724-368-9185 or 724-368-8811.
McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, has a Hell’s Hollow industrial history hike from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Meet at the Hell’s Hollow parking lot. Art in the Park is from 1 to 3 p.m. July 15 and 29 and Aug. 19. The historic gristmill is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October. Interpretive tours of the mill, which last about 45 minutes, are available at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free. Call 724-368-3612.
