The Dick Tady Orchestra, known for its Slovenian-style polka music, will perform Saturday as part of the St. Peter Parish OktoberFest. The band will provide music for a 5 p.m. festival Mass at the Rock Catholic Center at the corner of Maltby and Normal Avenues in Slippery Rock adjacent to Slippery Rock University, and then play for a dinner/dance from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The St. Peter Parish OktoberFest takes place Friday and Saturday at the Rock Catholic Center and includes free children's activities, bingo, raffles, a “Cakes, Bakes and Corks” completion, cornhole tournament, and German food. Forest County Music Association's Country and Bluegrass Jam Session will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Foxburg Pizza Shop and Country Store. The showcase features a core group of local performers who are generally joined by artists from out of the area. Admission is free. Call 724-659-0123.Handel's “Messiah” rehearsals have begun for the New Castle Music Club under the direction of Butler resident Harry Cunningham. Rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays. The presentation will be at 3 p.m. Nov. 25 at St. Jude's Episcopal Church, formerly Trinity Episcopal Church, 212 North Mill St. Call 724-652-8773.
