Tornado Big Band will be part of a Christmas Concert and Dance from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 7 at First United Methodist Church's Crossfire campus, Route 8. This year all proceeds will go to the children's ministry at First U.M. The evening will include appetizers, sweets, specialty coffee and a silent auction. Admission is by donation. Butler County Symphony Orchestra has tickets available for its “Holidays,” concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, featuring traditional seasonal selections and the Butler Senior High Singers directed by Bryan Helsel, in the auditorium of the Butler Intermediate High School, 551 Fairground Hill Road. Guest Conductor for the show is Walter Morales, a native of Costa Rica and music director of the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra and Undercroft Opera and principal guest conductor of the Pittsburgh Philharmonic. Barrow-Civic Theatre, 1229 Liberty St., Franklin, will be the site of the third annual Christmas Concert and Benefit at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Bluegrass groups scheduled to perform include The Pine Valley Boys, Wildwood Express, Roadapple Ridge, Keep Off the Grass, Backwoods Bluegrass and Chuck Thorpe and Friends. There is no charge for admission but donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the Franklin Salvation Army’s Christmas Drive and the Barrow-Civic Theatre 2013 season.
