Show Time
Butler artists Dennis Keyes and Tom Panei will host their fourth annual Holiday Art Show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Brick House, 118 N. Main St.
Panei’s stylized paintings are well known around Butler, including on the welcome sign coming into town from Route 8 south. He will have his pastels on wood and also some glasswork as part of the show.
He also will show some of his work that received a positive response at ArtPrize competition in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Keyes’ artwork is photography that he takes a step farther, turning the photographs into paintings. His multistep process allows him to remove unwanted items from the pictures, like satellite dishes or parked cars, and then print the photographs on canvas and paint them over with acrylics.
He will be debuting his piece “OMG,” a compilation of at least 30 layers that has taken him several years to complete and addresses the nature of the universe. A smaller canvas and prints of “OMG” also will be available.
There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
