A program on the Open Pollinate Seed Advantage will begin at 1:30 p.m. April 9 at the Butler City Farmer's Market at the corner of Shore and Chestnut streets.

Octavia Elder, manager for Northwest Pennsylvania Growers' Cooperative, will explain benefits of saving and planting open-pollinated seeds and heirloom varieties, as well as some of the issues associated with genetically modified seeds and plants.

Participants may take seeds to exchange after the presentation. Some seeds may be available for sale.
