ADAMS TWP — Justin Young made a wise choice March 18, when he listened to his wife instead of to a 911 dispatcher.

The dispatcher advised the 31-year-old man to find some blankets, since it was obvious his daughter, Avery, would be born in an Acura SUV instead of at West Penn Hospital.

“I said ‘No, no. You need to come catch (the baby),'” recalled Megan Young, 30.

“He came around to my side of the car. Two pushes and she was there.”

Their vehicle hadn't even left the garage. Still, they didn't stray far from their birthing plan.

As with their 2-year-old daughter Claire, the Youngs intended to follow the Bradley method of husband-coached natural childbirth with Avery.

“Well, he took that to a whole new level,” Megan said.

As a father, she said, he also excels.

“He's a great dad. He is very hands-on. He does bottles and diapers and makes up silly songs,” she said.

Self-employed insurance agents, the Youngs work as a team between their offices in South Park and Verona. And teamwork extends to their life at home.“As long as it's not golf season, he does everything that I do around the house,” Megan said.With any luck, Justin won't be golfing alone. Claire already has a tiny set of plastic clubs, a gift she received on the day of her birth from Justin's father, John.“He taught me to golf,” said Justin, who recalls playing on a course as early as age 5.Although Claire's golf outings have not yet begun, she still pals around with Dad.“We like to go to Dick's Sporting Goods, right Claire?” her father said.
