Bartramian Audubon Society has birding field trips to Lake Arthur/Moraine-McConnells Mill (call 724-794-2434) starting at 8 a.m. Saturday and to Elk County (call 724-496-4856) on Oct. 8. Trips are free, space is limited.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will host a Muddy Creek Oil Field Living History Exhibit 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Park Road Prospect Exit. A full moon kayaking trip is planned for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 16; to register, call 724-368-8811. A night hike is set for 8 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 17 from the outdoor classroom on the North Shore.

REGION

A star party sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh is to begin at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton. Call 724-224-2510.

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, will have a volunteer work day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday; call the park office at 724-368-8811 to register. The Heritage Festival is Sept. 24-25.
